NFL players, understandably upset about the NFL’s paternalistic, unilateral insistence that they engage in forced patriotism or remain out of sight like naughty children, are contemplating forms of resistance.  Obviously, the most potent form of resistance would be to not play a down of football until this rule is reversed and, in the spirit of “Go Big or Go Home,” until Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid are signed.  Kneeling in defiance of the rule or otherwise demonstrating during the anthem in a bold manner such as raising a black glove clad fist are also strong options.  What’s obvious is that if Roger Goodell thought that this was going to be the end of the issue, he was sadly mistaken.  At the end of last season, relatively few players were protesting during the anthem; but there is little doubt that this racist, poorly designed Travesty Anthem Policy has guaranteed that some players will follow in the footsteps of our ancestors and elders and rebel.

Various NFL players are reportedly discussing different forms of protesting in response to a new policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem.
