Robert Quinn was one of the few NFL players who continued his protest throughout the entire season. Since being traded to the Miami Dolphins, a question on the minds of many has been whether or not he will continue to protest. It actually quite bizarre how fixated strangers are on the exercise of one’s rights; and while some may argue that there may be a business impact of having a player who protests, this should be a consideration with regard to a peaceful protest. Quinn, in discussing why protesting was important, pointedly noted the fact that this country was built off the backs of Black people, and the lack of equality. This is what these protests are about, not the deflecting notions of “disrespect to veterans and the flag” touted by the ignorant among us.
