National Anthem Protests Resume in the 2017 Season Despite Kaepernick Absence

At a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, Marshawn Lynch of the Oakland Raiders remained seated during the national anthem, signaling the first such instance of the 2017 season.  While it is not clear what Marshawn’s motive was for remaining seated, it is reasonable to assume an anti-racism basis given a previous pro-Black statement.
