Students Ban National Anthem from Rallies, Citing Racist, Offensive Third Stanza as Basis

Article below by Victor Morton at washingtontimes.com.  It is heartening to see students taking a bold stance on  challenging racism. That the Star Spangled Banner is a racist song is beyond dispute given its third stanza, revisionist efforts attempting to assert the contrary notwithstanding.  It’s a testament to the lack of humanity afforded Black people that we are expected to recite lyrics to a song which contains a stanza celebrating the killing of ancestors seeking freedom from their kidnappers. Give these kids a medal. 

Student leaders at a high school in the San Francisco Bay Area have decided that the national anthem is racist and outdated and have banned it from school rallies.

According to multiple area news outlets, the Associated Student Body at California High School in San Ramon made that decision based on a phrase in the rarely-played third verse.
