Yet another business reveals its aversion to justice and capacity for performative outrage by instituting a boycott of the National Football League—this time via 20 ounce Pepsi bottles which contain the NFL logo—in protest of the league’s decision not to punish players who kneel during the national anthem.  Let us ponder how completely illogical this is.  This Alabama grocery store has decided, two years after the protests began, not to boycott all NFL sponsors or even Pepsi as a whole; just 20oz Pepsis because it contains the NFL logo.  Further, only 3 of the NFL’s 1,696 players are demonstrating in this manner during the national anthem.  That’s 0.00152%, which makes this boycott even more nonsensical and baffling.  Clearly S&Z grocers is seeking to curry favor with those who object to Black challenges to injustice and systemic racism. Truly ridiculous.
